You meet, maybe through a mutual acquaintance....
« on: November 06, 2008, 07:06:37 PM »

you have coffee,  a tame lunch, things progress to dinner.

At some point, you begin exchanging gifts, both physical  [sm_hump]and material.

Things of yours end up at her place, things of hers at yours. It's all very nice, and maybe the material gifts get a little larger, but you both figure the other is The One.

But, predictably, things start to go wrong. Little cracks around the edges at first, a cold stare here, a chilly silence there. It slides inevitably downhill, slamming doors, angry accusations, founded and unfounded. Finally tears are shed, and one or the other just throws up their hands and walks. Fingers are pointed, the bitterness sets in, phone calls at 2am, and finally, just when everyone thinks it's over, a lawyer shows up:

Quote
Reporting from Phoenix -- Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession.

Okay, to be fair, I think she's being thrown under the bus, mostly to save McCains sorry ass.

But she should have known better than to make it so easy by standing directly in front of it.

Aw, let her keep the fancy duds. Hell, even Pretty Woman got to keep the clothes. At the very least, it will be something to bring up in 4 years if she decides to make a go of it again.

If she keeps the clothes, she has to pay the taxes on them is my understanding. Admittedly, 25 or 30k is pretty much chump change for your typical Alaskian politico (I heard the Mayor of Fairbanks used to keep that much in his CAR), so it's no big deal.

Nope, this is pretty much a hack job from the GOP looking to assess blame for an embarrasingly large defeat.

I knew she was expendable, it didn't occur to me that they'd scapegoat her so grotesquely.

women are like tornados. In the beginning there's a lot of sucking and blowing. In the end, the car's gone, the house is gone..
