Eat, Drink and Be Merry For Tomorrow You May Be In Utah

http://www.sltrib.com/bus...ness/ci_4883766?source=rvDixie College President Lee Caldwell led the opposition. In a letter to the liquor-control commissioners he said the college is constantly fighting a party school image. That image is well earned and should not be opposed lightly.

Most of the people I knew who went to Dixie State went there because of its party school image. Lee Caldwell seems to be oblivious to the serious damage to enrollment statistics that could be done by an a assault on its party school reputation.
Besides, most of the serious partiers stock up in Mesquite every weekend.

But Utah police periodically set up roadblocks to catch bootleggers. Bringing liquor across the border into Utah is a Class B misdemeanor, with penalties of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Plus, you loose the booze.
Is this something that really happens in Utah? Have you guys encountered roadblocks to catch bootleggers?

Evanston, Wyoming is less than an hour's drive from here, so people head up for kegs (which aren't available to the general public here) pretty routinely. Most roadblocks I've seen have been around major drinking holidays and/or sporting events. I've even heard tales of UHP camping out in parking lots of liquor stores radioing license plate numbers to their buddies across the border. When we go to Idaho (in-laws live there), we'll usually bring back a case of wine and some beer, but I don't think I've ever seen a roadblock on the Idaho border- too inconvenient for anyone to make a special trip just for liquor. When the Powerball Jackpot is high there's usually a caravan for lotto tickets though.

By the time your parents have driven most of the way to Wyoming to pick you up they're in a right lather.
