McDonald's Breakfast-Lunch Menu Changeover
« on: March 30, 2009, 01:05:36 PM » |

These folks are the opposite of me. I usually show up at 10:35 and try to order breakfast right after they change to the lunch menu. Not 'lovin' it,' he shoots Mickey D's drive-throughMan fired sawed-off into window after being told menu was breakfast-only.http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_12026391 A McDonald's drive-through was shot up early Sunday after a customer was angered that the restaurant had shifted from the lunch menu to the breakfast menu, police said.
The driver of a white Dodge Intrepid pulled into the drive-through at about 2 a.m. at McDonald's at 210 W. 500 South in Salt Lake City and ordered food from the lunch and dinner menu, police said.
When a clerk told her the restaurant was serving only items from the breakfast menu, the woman drove to the second window, police said. Two men got out of the car, and one pulled a sawed-off shotgun out of the trunk, police said. He fired once or twice into the drive-though window before the two men and the woman left on 500 South and turned north on 300 West, police said.

Weird. The McDonald's restaurants that are open at 2am around here are still serving the lunch/dinner menu. I think the breakfast menu starts at 5 or 6am. I don't think I could adjust to living in Utah.

Having a peek at the official "adjusting to living in Utah" checklist... . . #1238 - Unavailability of 2:00 am lunch at McDonald's . . Seriously, wasn't all that long ago the only food joints open between 11:00 and 7:00 were Village Inn and Naugles.

I know I'm getting old. I can barely remember the last time I sat down for a meal after midnight. But I can recall hitting Perkins after bar closing for "breakfast" around 1:00-2:00am. I also remember the good old, old days when McDonald's would cook up batches of burgers, Mac's, Royale with Cheese, etc. Not to order like they do today. If you knew somebody who worked there it ruled. Order a hamburger and fries in the drive thru at midnight and get a couple of sacks of chow when you paid. Or so I was told.
