Am I wasting my time?

So my new desktop is hooked up to an old 19" LCD (not even WS). I was thinking of moving it over to our 51" plasma and get a wireless keyboard and mouse. While I think it would be awesome to play games and maybe surf the internet I just wonder if it's a bit of overkill.

Wondering if the resolution is not high enough on the TV. I may just give it a shot just to see.

is it full HD res ?

if so, at 51" you'd need to sit about 6-7 feet away ideally, probably not more than 12 feet to actually read anything.

1080p TV. Video card is ATI 5770, fully capable of that resolution. The furthest seat is right about 12 feet. And I think games would look awesome. Since I don't play online MPPORGs the wireless keyboard and mouse wouldnt be an issue either.

Sorry Darla, but we are going to have to play the man card here.  You can watch the 27" tv all you want.  There is no way that any woman has any say as to what a 51" plasma tv gets used for.  Disclaimer: if said 51" plasma was paid for 100% by the woman in question, not a joint account, all bets are off.

I connected it up today and while it looked awesome I actually didn't like it. At least for now. I may revisit it in the future. Problem was the sound really. Connecting one output to the stereo was a waste, no surround sound, and it just sounded echoy. And as Aske said I had to sit close to be able to read anything.

But COD:MW2 looked amazing at the full resolution!

Well you are getting old, guess you could have increased the font on all of your settings so you could read it. Of course you can't really use your bifocals on a 51" screen......

This was my thought on it when I first read the thread.  I thought about doing it at home but thought that takes out the t.v.  Nobody wants to watch me surf 'hos and vice versa.
