First, I delivered papers, then I pumped gas on weekends. Occasionally I topped up the funds by playing coffee houses back in the days when folk music was cool.

During the summers when baseball was over I worked for my father. He is a paint contractor so I spent my days sanding baseboards and cabinets by hand and taping off. During the school year I had to get a couple jobs when I got in trouble. One was a cashier at a Christian bookstore. The other was at Pizza Hut delivery driver.  Neither lasted very long. |

The other was at Pizza Hut delivery driver. The pizza smell really drowned out the pot smell. Not to mention the free munchies. A Win-Win no doubt. |

worked in the back room of a pro shop. cleaning clubs, picking the range, etc. Thought I was in heaven.

Paper route. And if I do say so myself, I was a heckuva good paper boy. Had an umbrella rigged to my cart to keep the papers dry if it was raining. If you had a screen door I'd walk the paper all the way up and leave it inside the screen door. If the screen door was locked, I'd place the paper partially under the mat, or find a rock to set on it, to keep it from blowing away. It's all about the tips, baby. Also served a one year sentence at Burger King. You haven't lived until you've had to change out the grease in the deep fryer at BK.  |
