State of mind out on the course!
« on: May 06, 2007, 04:03:39 PM »

Yesterday, before I even played golf, I started stressing out about the women"s tee, on no 14 as the ladies captain insisted that is be moved back to the mens tee.  The problem is for me, is that there is now a large drain (harzard) there, especially as my ball would land around that area, and Sunday is a mixed comp, mens and ladies, so I have no chance getting the ball over the drain, and the men do it easily.
Well I stressed out about this all morning and at golf, well I let it ruin my whole game, and I was never so glad to finish a game of golf.
How do I relax and get in that state of mind without drinking (I am always designated driver Disgusted) and smoking dope!!! Grin......what is your trick!!!!!

The good thing about getting old, is that you can hit the ball out of sight.

I try not to focus on what holes are my "problem" holes, and concentrate on the one I'm on.  That usually works for me.  When I do come to one of those problem holes, I just play safe (choose a club I know I hit accurately - even if it means my pitching wedge when I need a 4i - anything that will allow me to take the trouble zone out of play).  Doing well several times in a row, builds my confidence back enough I'm ready to take another try at using said 4i (or whatever).  Also having Kev to talk to as we walk to the next hole is so nice.  Talking about the trouble that a certain hole gives me seems to help me think about how I want to play said hole.
