well, the pic quality is at least as good as comcrap has become, if not better. haven't really scrolled through enough to determine yet.  that said, i'm now getting about 2.5x as many HD channels for less total $.  gotta love that .

so the bad side:  installer shows up, and doesn't have the right mount for our situation (to fit the rules for installation on our balcony) ... he had to go back and get one. after a lot of hard work, he gets the wiring in place and plugs in the 2 boxes for our tvs. activation call #1 he gets hung up on.  activation call #2, finally get a person on the line after a long wait, they don't have the info on all the stuff I supposedly ordered. have to repeat it all ... that said, it's all up and running now-- I felt really bad for the installer, he showed up around 2:15, and ended up leaving around 8:30.  he missed the remaining 2 calls he was supposed to have this aftenroon-- probably some pissed off customers out there!   slipped him a $20 because he was very very friendly, patient, and went well out of his way to make sure we were running tonight-- i have a feeling comcast would have just rescheduled me the instant the tech had to leave for additional supplies.

Glad to hear the installer was a quality guy.

All but the last time I've had to call Charter for service, the phone support was terrible - but the technicians that showed up have always been good.  I'm still not going to feel guilty when I make the move you just did and 'fire' them as a company, but they were good guys.

1st test of the DVR will be 'Snatch'  on HDNET movies in about 15 minutes.
