I see Sonic commercials on tv all the time, but the nearest one to me is about 1.5 hours away near Sacramento.  Undecided

Dude, you have Inn-N-Out, what the *fudge* more do you need?

Sonic is cute because it's retro, Inn-N-Out rocks because it's retro AND the food rocks.

People lining up to eat Sonic?

Sonic is for when you have eight minutes for lunch and you're tired of chowing down stale Swedish Fish or whatever else you have stuck in the back of your top left drawer.  Even then, cardboard copier paper boxes chiffonaded with a little Tobasco...  Just sayin'.

Sonic completely and utterly blows.

In-N-Out rules.  It is better than the hype.  Our road trips to Cali are timed around meals at In-N-Out.  Our last trip to St. George was two weeks before they opened down there and it damn near ruined the vacation for me and the kids.

Another mystery is why they serve the sloppiest burgers in a place where you eat in your car.

I'm kind of burned out on In-n-out burgers, but I'm not sure why.  Maybe because they still have long lines even though they've been here for a while.

I'm impressed that in-n-out has managed to keep up the momentum.  Krispy Kreme had similar long lines when they opened, but not anymore.

In-N-Out is good if you don't mind the subtle proselytization.

Apparently we just had our first one (in Minnesota) open in the Twin Cities Metro area.

Seems the place has been so over run that the police have had to do day and night traffic control  around the joint. Just so people can in and out of it for about 6 blocks. (Same thing happened with Krispy Kreme)

Is the joint that good?  Or is it just Minnesota rubes fraught with something new?

No doubt the majority but plenty of imported rubes who miss Sonic as well. There isn't a food product around that I'd wait in a 6 block line for, let alone a burger joint.

Nothing new.

For years, Sonic has been playing the "scarce resource" marketing card brilliantly.

At the end of the day, Krispy Kreme is just another cake donut with a little stiffer glaze.

Inn-N-Out is way, way better than the average drive through burger, although Carls, Jr. can come close...
