I don't see why you guys are caught up on this failure to deliver 'promise' thing.

Except for that compassionate thing, Bush accomplished exactly what he promised.  If you refuse to buy that, then you simply cannot argue with the fact that he fulfilled his promise exactly.  He clearly maxed out on his potential.  He give it his all.

Either way, same thing.

(ps  You are PRECISELY right McCain is not better than before.  May very likely even be worser if you factor in the early, subtle signs of dementia.)

Feel free to just blow me off if you think I'm calling you out, but ... I just don't get your post.

While [Obama] seems to be sincere, my belief is that he will be sincerely beholden to the folks who have supported him...sincerely partisan...sincerely liberal.  I'm conservative, which rules out the Republican Party as well.  Screw Washington.
I can't understand the notion that if you can't get a staunchly conservative candidate, you'll not vote for the better of the two candidates who are in the race.  The needle on my politicometer barely moves, but come on, there's a nation at stake.

When people -- especially smart people -- check out of the election process, they make it EASIER for special-interests and smear tactics to prevail.  Whether you wear a red jersey, a blue jersey, or no jersey, you can't be in favor of THAT.

Be a single-issue voter.  Be a totality-of-the-issues voter.  But goddamn it, be a voter.

I just re-read it.  I don't get it either.  I don't mind being called out.  My wife calls me an *bunghole* sometimes; that doesn't really bug me either.  First, I got jacked up by Obama's words.  Then, a couple of off-leash Pit Bulls made my late night dog walk quite interesting - 25 minutes keeping their aggression at bay to walk the last 1/4 mile home.  I was jacked up on adrenaline.  That's my excuse.

But Clive, if I were to register to vote I'm pretty sure I'd then be eligible for the jury pool.  I cave under the pressure of civic duty (sorry Uisce and Fuzzmeister, no political future in my lifetime - though I'll through a party).  My thoughts were pretty disjointed last night.  They probably are now as well.

I had some appointments downtown today and spent a lot of time with a couple of clients who have become friends.  They both expressed a hope in the political system that neither had felt for quite some time.  These are not young kids, probably 45 or so.  Obama moves them.  I respect them...

I'm really not sure I'm ready for that big step - not sure which button I'd push.  I watched 3 nights of the DNC - this election has me more interested than previous ones.

I withdraw the nomination.  It is clear to me lennyquai cannot withstand the pressure applied by the big oil-hits-the-anus lobby.

My dismay in the political process continues.

However, our workplace has never felt the Clive sphincter squeeze ...
Cross lennyquai off that list.

By the way, didn't Barrack allude to the fear-mongering tactics of the Republicans, insinuating that he was above that?  Tell me, then, how the "4 more years like the last 8" isn't fear-mongering, catering to the fears people have that McCain's reign would be eerily similar to the current *8==>*head's?

I think there's a difference between fear mongering and telling the truth.
