Submarine Question

CANBERRA (Reuters) – An Australian navy submarine skipper who suggested female sailors wear bikinis to help reverse a recruitment crisis has been criticised by lawmakers but supported by superiors, local media said on Thursday.

Commander Tom Phillips, appointed to the Australian navy's HMAS Farncomb last year, also joked in a men's magazine interview that the submariner equivalent of the notorious "mile-high club" for people having **** in aircraft was the "going down club."

Is there a submarine equivalent to the "mile high club" and, if so, is there a better name than this dude suggests?

I guess The "Flood The Tubes!" Club name didn't resonate with potential customers.

But "Up Periscope" might gain some traction ...

They are all just Love Boats. 120 men go down 60 couple come back up. Not that I know anything about that.

Seriously though the US does not have women on subs. At least not in any form other then magazines. And let me tell you the odor in the berthing area 24 hours after we get underway.....

Ah.  gotcha.

I guess Smithers was right when he said women and seamen don't mix.

It still wouldn't convince me to join the Navy... I've seen too many submarine movies with Ernest Borgnine in them to believe otherwise..
