Did you know this is a golf forum?
So i did some wheeling and dealing and came into possession of a 2008 Taylormade Tour Burner TP with a Matrix x-con 5 shaft. All i can say is
WOW.
In all honesty, I have hit more drivers than most people will see in their life (i have had as many as 30 in my possession at one time) But i have never hit anything even close to as long as this.
It took me a few holes to get acclimated to the 2* open face, but since then i have just been flat killing this thing. I'm not a big guy, 5'10" in shoes 180lbs not real muscular with freakishly long arms. Last night i hit 2 gps measured drives in the 285 range.
The loft is 10.3* measured, i usually play an 8.5* to 9.5* and i have never hit a driver this high, straight and had it carry this far and still roll. And i have hit plenty of higher lofted drivers. The ball seems to just hang in the air forevar with a high flat trajectory. I can honestly say i have never seen anything like it.
The TP Matrix x-con 5 shaft is apparently the perfect shaft for my swing, and this might be the most forgiving head i have ever hit.
There has been a lot of internet buzz about this head for awhile now especially on a certain "other" forum which i usually either ridicule or ignore
after demoing the club in question but in this case I would have to say the buzz is well deserved. This is in my opinion the best head TaylorMade has ever produced.
If you get a chance to hit one of these give it a go. You may be surprised, I know i was.
