[Politics/Religion] Olbermann
« on: November 05, 2010, 04:30:03 PM »

I can't stand the guy, really, but isn't it a bit silly to suspend Olbermann for contributing to a couple of Dems campaigns?  I mean, did anyone really think he was neutral?  Everyone who has ever seen or heard him knows where he stands on things, so why try to put up a facade of objectivity?  It somehow seems a bit "un-American" to punish someone for exercising their political freedom, no?  He put up his own money, not MSNBC's.

Did I mention that I can't stand the guy?

Olbermann is more of a commentator than a news anchor, so I don't think he needs to sound unbiased, which he obviously isn't. However, there might have been something stipulated in his contract about political contributions. It's definitely silly.

Call me cynical, but:

This is really just a means for him to call O'Reilly, Beck and particularly Hannity and Fox out. His first show back will be several minutes of tape of those three and a few others bragging about how much money they gave this candidate or that PAC.

Then, Keith Olberman will smugly proclaim that he, Keith Olberman, and MSNBC are the true bastions of 'Impartial, Ethical Journalism' and he, Keith Olberman just proved it by being suspended from his own show, the Keith Olberman Show.

.

I missed the obvious:

Charming and funny lesbian Rachel Maddow will do it as soon as possible, while the Faux News crew will all defend his partisanship.
