We went to Best Buy. (Twice actually, long story, will explain later below)
First trip:
Left apartment at 11:55 PM, Ideally wanting to stop and get
the camera at Compusa (we have a warehouse store nearby). Maybe misunderstood their ad, they were closed (or not yet open) as it turns out. Was going to leave Sal there while I hit BestBuy. I was mainly interested in BestBuy for the Benhur Ultimate Box ($10 instead of ...$70!!!!) and a few other movies ($5-$10) if they had stock. I had seen that BenHur in stock at the closest store here, so I figured it might be worth a trip as even though that price is a total discount, bargain hunter people usually seem to ignore collectors items. We got there around 12:05-12:10. The line was starting to pile in the store, this is at a large strip mall, and the line went literally along other storefronts about 1/8th of a mile. Dropped Sal at end of line, went on and found parking. She ran in, and had found a camera and a BenHur by the time we met up. Surprisingly, it only took me about 10 minutes to park, get to end of line, and get in. We browsed around a bit more, ended up with that selection of stuff, and got in line to pay. This line is the one that snakes all around the store, and I would guess... to be about 200 deep at this point. (12:30ish) Had moved maybe 10 spots up, a guy walks buy to get out of store and we happened to be right at the 'vertical' aisle intersection he was passing, he says to me/Sal, and a few other people nearby, that the TV areacashier station is open, but it's blocked from view by display. I tell Sal to hold out place in line, I go check it out, and it's only about 15 people deep. It's slow because a lot of them are buying TVs, but still worth it, long story short, we were home around 1:15 or 1:20. Saved about 200-220 off 'retail'. Now's where it gets interesting, I giddily open up the BenHur to look at it etc, show it to Sal and it strikes her like a lightning bolt we should have got 2--- not to profit (ebay, which I initially considered doing, but declined in the spirit of the holidays) but because one of our good friends (she's known a lot longer than I have ) in Greece is a huge movie buff, film reviewer, etc, but is currently financially (and personally) suffering through a lot of problems and has had to cease a lot of his purchasing. It would have been great to have gotten him one as a gift. Oh well, we think, we'll try going back after lunch as we'll probably be out and about anyways, just on off chance nobody else has snagged one. We watched Horrible Bosses, couldn't really fall back asleep, and just decided go go out (430ish) and try to find it. Store we had originally gone had no more, I decided we'd try one more about 10 miles away just for giggles (a larger store). As it turns out that store had 2 left, I decided we'd get both of them to gift out. 1 obviously has a home-to-be, the 2nd we'll figure out later. Anyways, got checked out there within 5 minutes-- store had maybe 100 people in it. Got home again around 530 and went to bed. End of cool.story.bro.
