Show of hands: Who did NOT know Tiger chews?

I thought this was common knowledge? Or did people just think his lower lip changed shape every once in a while?

I did not know that.

As a recovering dipper myself, I can usually easily spot (former) fellow travelers on the road to devastating head and neck cancers*.

So he must hide it pretty well.  Which is commendable because something like that should never become common knowledge.  Especially given that a lot of pro athletes seem to celebrate the habit.  The Lenny Dykstra's of the world.

After growing up, getting married and settling into a nice professional job, I did it for years as quietly as I dare, around the house and at work.  I finally quit several years ago, when blader jr was reaching the age where I felt he would notice, I would no longer be able to hide it from him, and lying to him about it would be even worse.  We were spending a lot of time on the ball fields together, where I learned to dip as a kid myself, and I didn't want him to know.

So, yeah, I didn't know that about Tiger, and too bad he does it, but props to him for being discreet.

I don't know what he chews specifically, looks to be some kind of Skoal or Copenhagen type product.

I'm honestly surprised that alot of people were caught unawares? He doesn't make a show, but it's been pretty obvious a few times.

What a coincidence.  Tony Gwynn just had a hunk of the inside of his face removed.
