"So what are your thoughts on economic reform??"
« on: June 01, 2007, 03:04:26 PM »

The voters of Reus, a town in northern Spain, elected a councillor who promised to turn up dressed as Elvis Presley and wants to turn the town square into a nudist pool.

Former postman Ariel Santamaria wants to paint the town hall pink and plant marijuana in the parks.

As long as they limit the nudist pool to the pröñ stars - general use.... ick.

She was elected 3 times, and served a little over 10 years, IIRC. I served in Italy in 1981, then she helped found some new party in 1982 after having been elected from Rome in 1979. There was serious talk that she could be appointed to some Parliamentary leadership position, but alas it was not to be.

She was really more than a pröñ Star, FWIW. She did alot of 'straight' TV appearances. She was really regarded fondly as something of a national treasure, and her politics were more than just a publicity stunt to show her boobs (which she did ALOT, having been the first woman to bear them on Italian broadcast television).

Last I heard, she was running for Mayor of Milan in '06, but I'm not sure what happened to her.
