So I apparently made an entertainment faux pas...
« on: October 19, 2007, 02:23:14 PM » |

...by not knowing who the heck Hannah Montana is The company has drawings for tickets to events a lot of the time and this one was for Hannah Montana. So I ask some of the people sitting next to me 'who is Hannah Montana???'. Well, the reaction and disbelief was one on par with me asking who Elvis Presley or George Washington was. Apparently it was young kids, Disney channel, singer, more young kid stuff, blah, blah - before they took pity on my single, no-kid status. Kinda funny really - didn't realize how out of the loop I was

Man, I wish I knew nothing about Hannah Montana... She's the daughter of Billy Cyrus. They're in a TV show on Nick (I think) together where she plays a schoolgirl with a secret life of a pop star. Yes, it's as lame as it sounds. Except for R-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-ico. He's a cool little fudger with no respect for authority.

Mine's a 10 year old fanatic. And the little one isn't far behind. We talked once about trying to get tickets before it all blew up and got ridiculous. You're not out of the loop Rick. You're in a place I wish I was because Hannah is just the latest in the line...Hilary Duff, High School Musical, etc. etc. The worst part is that I actually have a number of pre-teen lollipop songs in my head that I'm afraid will never leave.

My buddy who's the marketing manager for Environmental Solutions Arena told me that she sold out here in like 2.7 minutes (maybe that was hours, dunno) at like $50/ticket. His response when I asked who the hell she is was similar.

The girls had a HSM II party with a bunch of friends over the night it debuted. Almost made my kidney stone episode tolerable in comparison. J/K ladies. I love my girls.........

Hey Fuzzy & Stroh, I know what your talking about!!! The other day, I found myself singing "I've got the best of both worlds"!!!!!!!! (true, I'm not kidding). Also, we had to look really hard & carefully on the last song on HSM2, as Hanna Montana, was making a cameo appearance, dancing with everybody!!!

Apparently there was such a parental hoopla over so many tickets being 'scalped' that the freaking Missouri Attorney General had to get involved. From the reports - this is like the Beatles invasion for young(er) girls. And me - I had no idea - LOL!

From the reports - this was like the Beatles invasion for young(er) girls. And me - I had no idea - LOL! And not just in Missouri. I've paid some attention to the hoopla and in a lot of states people are pissed. I think some of it is a case of folks being out of the loop on how tickets get sold/distributed/scalped these days. I know one issue is how the big ticket brokers manage to get large blocks of tickets so quickly after they go on sale and then jack the prices. Go to stubhub or ebay or other ticket vendor sites and check out her concerts around the US. Prices have come down here and I imagine if you're willing to go to the venue and hang out you'll end up with a more reasonable price. Last week it was $1000 plus for the best seats and now I see they are down to $300-$350 at stubhub for Sunday nights show. Crazy *feces*.
