When people see a general problem or hole to fill they have 2 questions. How can I solve the problem and how can I make money doing it? Of course Pickens wants to make money. Take that out of the equation.

Wind is a great natural source of power. I can attest that here in Texas there is a lot of it. If, and that's a big if, the infrastructure and automakers agree to the natural gas thing I can see it making a dent. But those entities have to buy in and natural gas stations need to spring up or however you get it. It would be neat if you have gas at home you could just fill up your car there.

I'm all for it.  It has holes the size of Texas, but the important thing is that it proposes capturing energy from a completely renewable resource.

T Boone Pickens needs to start a new company, sell stock to investors, and fund his plan the way capitalists have for several hundred years....

I'll take this one step further. Is there any real difference between having your power supplied by a highly-regulated monopoly called "ConEd" vs. a monopoly called the "US Gubmint"? Why stop at having the gubmint simply fund the development of the core technologies and build-out of the infrastructure? I think one can argue that energy is vital enough a component of national security that nationaliz(s)ation of "public" utilities should be considered. At the very least have the state gubmints run them.
