sal is having issues with her external usb hard drive
(winblows won't even detect it)

this is one areas of PC stuff I dont keep up with or know much about (reputable programs, etc)

google doesnt return too many hits about this thing other than sites where it can be downloaded.

I would first rip the HDD from the case and connect it via IDE to eliminate one variable. It the OS still doesn't recognize it, try the freezer trick. If that fails, you have to consider whether the data is worth sending it to a professional data recovery service.

I'm taking mine to a guru friend today who is a big Apple guy, and has been in IT and networking for ever and is pretty confident he can do something with it.

Else wise I guess it will have to go to one of the above when I have enough money.
