The insect heads don't bother me, I figure I've eaten many in my lifetime from foods I never suspected.
This struck me as odd, though: "In M*A*S*H Season 5, Episode 19 "Hepatitis", Col Sherman Potter shares some Fig Newtons with Hawkeye, "Fig Newtons and Scotch...They're great if you dunk 'em"

Just the heads? Do they have to cut the bodies off? If they bother doing that, why not just pick the bug out and throw the whole bug away less time involved (besides the fact that most people don't want bugs in their food)?

There's a tolerance for all foods....being naturally grown and all.
Dates have tolerance for body/thorax/turds. You don't want to overshoot the turd allowance. Some of them were veritably filled.
Mmmmm Date Pie. Yum!
