for the record,  just to get it off my chest,  I didn't pay top dollar for my players, i got all of them heavily below msrp, and two essentially for free,   and while yes, i do have software that runs the risk of being  useless someday (if i no longer have hardware to play it...hence my 'suck it ip and buy a backup player.  no biggie)   it's no big deal to me at this point... as i don't expect it to happen.

it's far  harder to 'suck up' the fact that a far far far more anticonsumer-procorporation  technology won, largely on bribes, rather than letting consumers really pick what they wanted.   in the end, i'll have $300-$400 in players extra spent, but I'll be watching hd-dvds and  blurays (eventually)  likely till both are obsolete.  over that 8-10 year window, the extra player cost will far be offset by both enjoyable use over the time frame, and , as well, the fact I would wager some of the titles i now have on hd-dvd will likely not be on bluray at all-  their sales tanked on hd-dvd-  studios aren't impressed with catalogue sales.

i would not , even knowing what i know now about who 'won'  buy into blu ray 1 year ago, 6 months ago, or even yet today.  it's a piece of crap evolving format that only offers (to date) crippled hardware, mediocre software, and excessive DRM.   (i would still have bought into hd-dvd, although I likely would have bought a few less hd-dvd titles-- i would have waited till the current firesales.  that is all)

Hey aske I wasn't inferring that you were ever or are likely to be a twat.  I understand your point about anti-consumerism and so forth and clearly that sucks the bollocks like a $2 Ho!

I was generally referring to the twats here who'll pay $1500-$2000 for a unit that you would pay atleast a quarter of that price.   Wink

No worries Wink

It's healthy for this Fourm.

Besides, I probably wouldn't refer to the members here as twats, I'd probably use something equally as offensive yet more obscure..;..
