Stroh, next time we go to The Refuge, I'll bring a few drivers for you to hit. You should be able to feel the difference in the shafts. Eng is supposed to come up later this summer, and you, Fuzzy, Jim, & I should get together for a round then. If not sooner.....
I started out building Golfsmith clubs for myself back in the '90's. After getting on FGI, I started hoing drivers like a madman. Having tried a few of the club du jour on more than one occasion. Started out with an Alpha C830.2 with a Fuji VP80. Then tried the Nak with an Accra SC75, which was a hook machine. But the one thing I loved about the Nak, was the smooth feel of the Accra. The Alpha was promptly sent to MCM to get the SC75 installed. What was a hook machine in the Nak was a well behaved shaft in the Alpha. I've since sold that Alpha head and moved on to the V5 with a Matrix X-Con 7. Should have gone up a flex, as the V5 has a more shallow bore than the 830.2, and it is prone to going left. But, it is even smoother than the SC75. Since I couldn't be hitting a driver that is prone to hooks, like a true ho, I scored a TM Super Quad on eBay last fall. Came from the factory with a Tour Spec 757 Speeder. If I really get after it, it will hook to, but if I ease up just a bit, it's long and straight. But, I'm ready for another driver, and have my eye on one on eBay. It will end up either being shafted with an SC75 or another Matrix shaft.
