What's Wrong With America (The Hours We Work)

56 hours a week.
2 twelve hour days in a week paid @ 1.5 after 8.
Every other Saturday 8 hours paid @ double time. (Although those hours are being cut back)

I wish I didn't have to work so much.

I plan to be retired early next year.

 

I check out of the "real" world the day my last mortgage check clears. I won't quit working but it will definitely be more on my terms. While that isn't next year, it isn't all that far away either.

I show up for work 37.5 hours/week.  Get overtime at 1x for hours over 37.5 - 40 hours, above 40 hours 1.5X.  4 weeks of vacation per annum plus 3 personal days.

Not to trivialize it, but I must be missing the new math, too.

2 days @12hrs + 3 days @8hrs = 48hrs.
Optional Saturday every other week.
Alternate 48 (paid 52), 56 (paid 68); average 52 (paid 60).
