The wingnuts have seized on this as another example that Gubment can't do anything right, even though the failure was precipitated by allowing other private banks to sell the same kind of securities that only FannieMae could until the 90's.

People will of course buy the lie that Fannie Mae is a Gubment agency, and for the first time in history we'll privatize something that's already privatized.
