Thank you Verizon
« on: October 22, 2008, 05:08:37 PM »

They added a bunch of channels to the tv service and moved everything around. They also added a bunch of HD channels. Well when I went to check them out some were blocked. My service was not suppose to have any HD channels blocked so I looked online. Wouldn't you know it, with the added channels they added a premium. *fudge*. Ok I give. So I call them and see what I can do.

Well they had a new package that includes the extra HD channels and doubles my internet speed. And it is the same price I was paying. Unfortunately everything doesn't get turned on til tomorrow.

Checked with Verizon yesterday.  They don't provide the service in my neighborhood but do in other parts of our small little city.

I am assuming that I will get good HD service when it does arrive.  Does FIOS service provide a more reliable speed on internet?  I ask this cuz comcast has never hit the speed they say I should get.  Current speed test is best in past 4 weeks and is significantly higher - 18431 download - upload 7599

I have never experienced any slowdowns. Once in a while I would experience what I thought was a slowdown but when I go to another site it was fine. The speed I should have now should be close to what your numbers are. When I get home I'll post the speed.

I have the lowest speed Verizon offers. Or at least I did. I haven't checked what the levels are. As it is I have no problems watching Tv shows or download programs or files. Sometimes home is faster then work.
