Fun but work
« on: November 01, 2008, 03:38:23 PM »

Had to install a new mailbox today. The old one was a brick one and the metal mailbox rusted all to hell. So tearing down the old one was fun. Bashing with a hammer and sledge. Once we got it all broken down I looked over at the large pile of bricks.

Damn. What to do with that big pile.

Well anyway, mission accomplished. New box is up, old one is mostly cleaned up. And I lost about 10 pounds of sweat.

Little known fact there Fuzzman, the mail box first originated in the Ancient Egyptian town of Thebes sometime during the reign of Ramesses III, it seems the Pharaoh needed some kind of way to message the gods at the Karnak Temple complex, yeah...so slaves originally built the box out of clay and straw and then they would place tablets of hieroglyphs into the box and float them down the Nile.

Soon after, they were also the first to put up "No Junk Mail" signs on their mail boxes
