probably after the learning curve.
my point is, since you have the learning curve, go with the one that's a bit steeper with real linux, and become more pc proficient, while saving some $
...or just buy a Mac.... Do you have one deuce?

Back then Mac's weren't so good with day to day stuff you do on PC but the latest Mac's can do it all... ofcourse there's that old standard about Windows 95 and so forth being Mac 82..... Ironically I don't have a Mac right now but might get one soon to replace the calculator that calls itself a PC on my desl at home...

avast has a firewall? No. But the windows firewall does work adequately enough for being something from windows. And there is certainly some good, free firewalls out there as well if you don't want to rely on m$.

Another 15-20 in the server farm. I've been running my business on 100% Apple since 1996. Granted, the Amelio and Scully years were tough but we made it through and things are swell. I don't have a problem with any *nix platforms but that "proprietary software" that Aske disdains has a stupid small learning curve. If you're a propeller head then by all means build your own machine and configure it from the kernel up. If you're normal, consider a Mac.

Thanks for all the input guys.
They got the 24 inch imac with super drive for $1999. I paid a lot more than that for my sony.
The pc, will be good to keep if I get one of those indoor simulator/launch monitors.

Stroh, if you or someone you know is an educator you can get 15% off at the brick and mortar Apple Store. All you need is a district ID or even just a paycheck. My wife subs part-time at a private school and I do their website. That was good enough for something like $200 off the Macbook I bought in August.
