Interesting bit of trivia: Peter Sellers was originally supposed to play the role of Maj. T.J. "King" Kong, which would have been his fourth character in the film. When Sellers broke his ankle, Kubrick was forced to recast the part. Among the candidates to whom the role was offered were John Wayne, who never acknowledged the offer, and Dan Blocker, aka "Hoss" Cartwright, who refused, believing the movie to be too "pinko."

Outside of his own scenes, Slim Pickens was never shown the script, nor was he told it was a black comedy. He was told to play the role straight, as though it were a serious drama.

Actually British subs (non nuclear at least) are way better the US subs. They have beer on tap.
