Semi - serious Vegan question.
« on: December 22, 2008, 07:51:44 PM »

For the last couple of years I have been trying  Air quotes to eat healthier  Air quotes  More veggies, less Baconators, etc.

I've always preferred fish over anything, then chicken, .....and then red meat.  I was a guy who did enjoy a good steak, but now, I'm not so sure I like it.

Went to the BIL's house on Sunday, and he made a Prime Rib.  Awesome.  Kudos to him, he did a kick ass job.  Delicious(sort of)  I just don't want to/ can't eat that kind of meat.  Any kind seems like.  I really just wanted the salad and potatoes.   Anonymous Bricks

I'm not completely all black beans and salsa, but....

Anybody else?

Susan.

Can't remember the last time she ate red meat like a burger. And I don't think I've ever seen her eat a steak. (FICA* - She does indulge in her annual awesome Christmas Chili and the occasional meat sauce on spaghetti). Other than that, nada. Chicken and fish and a lot of veggies/salads.

FWIW, I've cut down on my burger/red meat intake as well the past few years. But I'm confident I'll never give it up completely.  Smiley

Just about cut out red meat 3 or 4 years ago in a (successful) attempt to lower my cholesterol. That lasted about a year,  but even now I can't eat much more than an 8 oz serving without feeling the after effects.

I don't eat much red meat anymore, the stray burger indulgence notwithstanding.  I rarely order steak, mostly because I just don't like it so red inside, but I know it's a travesty to order it well done.  Well, that and I don't like ordering the ladies' portion.

I like red meat.  And my wife likes red meat.  She prefers the finer cuts like filets and doesn't really eat burgers.  We need a filet dinner at least twice a month.

I take red meat no less than 4x weekly, often more, mostly because I like how it encourages muscle regeneration but also to ward off taste bud flaccidity. As for ill-effects,  I simply follow the next day with a purgative, and then also do a chelation enema ~1x/month...sometimes more often around the 6 holiday seasons.  There can be little question that a brisk ibogaine aroma sauna, which I do daily, encourages elimination via sweat glands of the several toxins unique to red meat that accumulate in the brain and promote stupor. Lastly, my own research debunks claims that the prostatic dysfunction is attributable to the red meat porphyrins.  In fact, no such relationship exists as the condition is wholly circumvented by proper exercise of the gland, which includes a daily purging.  The truth is, this regimen is so successful, IFOCE has approached me to serve as consultant emeritus.
