Saddest Song Ever

For the past few weeks, I've been scouring the web to find the Saddest Songs Ever in an effort to come up with a Mopey playlist. To celebrate our new Seeqpod feature, do you have any good suggestions? (I realize this is very subjective) Here's an obvious one to start:

Saddest song I know. Country song. The Little Girl. Lyrics: "THE LITTLE GIRL" by John Michael Montgomery
Her parents never took the young girl to church Never spoke of His name Never read her His word Two non-believers walking lost in this world Took their baby with them What a sad little girl
Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs Never wanted to play Or give kisses and hugs She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch While her mom fell asleep And her daddy went out
And the drinking and the fighting Just got worse every night Behind their couch she'd be hiding Oh, what a sad little life And like it always does, the bad just got worse With every slap and every curse Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night Used a gun on her mom and then took his life
And some people from the city took the girl far away To a new mom and dad And kisses and hugs everyday Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in And a small little girl Stared at a picture of Him
She said I know that man up there on that cross I don't know His name But I know He got off He was there in my old house And held me close to His side As I hid there behind our couch The night that my parents died

Great stuff so far. Here's a late holiday offering. Lyrics: It was almost Christmas time There I stood in another line Trying to buy that last gift or two Not really in the Christmas mood Standing right in front of me Was a little boy waiting anxiously Pacing around like little boys do And in his hands he held A pair of shoes
And his clothes were worn and old He was dirty from head to toe And when it came his time to pay I couldn't believe what I heard him say
Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size Could you hurry Sir? Daddy says there's not much time You see, she's been sick for quite a while And I know these shoes will make her smile And I want her to look beautiful If Momma meets Jesus, tonight.
He counted pennies for what seem like years And cashier says son there's not enough here He searched his pockets franticly And he turned and he looked at me He said Momma made Christmas good at our house Though most years she just did without Tell me Sir What am I gonna do? Some how I’ve got to buy her these Christmas shoes
So I layed the money down I just had to help him out And I'll never forget The look on his face When he said Momma's gonna look so great.
Sir I wanna buy these shoes, for my Momma please It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size Could you hurry Sir? Daddy says there's not much time You see, she's been sick for quite a while And I know these shoes will make her smile And I want her to look beautiful, If Momma meets Jesus tonight.
I knew I caught a glimpse of heavens love as he thanked me and ran out. I know that God had sent that little boy to remind me What Christmas is all about
Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size Could you hurry Sir? Daddy says there's not much time You see she's been sick for quite a while And I know these shoes will make her smile And I want her to look beautiful If Momma meets Jesus tonight
I want her to look beautiful If Momma meets Jesus tonight
