He shouldn't IMO, but who knows with the NFL. He led with the shoulder and just happened to catch him in the face mask first. I thought it was a great play and unfortunate McGahee got injured.
We are talking about the Steelers DB right?

Yeh, he did the same type of hit he did on welker- shoulder twist... and McGahee unfortunately ducked into the contact and took it on the head. I think if he was running upright through the hit it would have been right on his sternum and Clark would be the only one possibly hurt by the hit. (Other than momentary pain).

that said, although this hit involved the apparently more severe injuries, the hit Sweed put on Ivy was much much harder and more brutal I thought. Good to see Tomlin and Ward lit a fire under his butt after that drop/fake injury BS.

Who knows. The Steelers have been singled out all season long re: following week fines for today's non-penalties. Would be a shame though. Between that and Sweed's hit we had maybe the two most massive de-cleaters of the season in one game. Both this side of illegal IMO.
Berger should be fined, suspended, drawn, quartered and made to read poetry for his dive. Pathetic.

As one might expect, the Ravens discussion boards see it differently. (They're even complaining about the fact that music was played during the lengthy injury timeout!) Berger should be fined, suspended, drawn, quartered and made to read poetry for his dive. Pathetic. Not Berger. Phil Luckett.

I spent an hour on the Baltimore Sun site I'll never get back. The fans who post there are an interesting lot. Given their team's history of hard azz play and even harder hits I'm surprised there aren't a few more level heads. Did you read the guy who thought Sweed's hit was illegal? I told my wife the music should have been turned off. I suspect it wasn't overtly provocative but it displayed a lack of class. It disappointed me. Berger should be fined, suspended, drawn, quartered and made to read poetry for his dive. Pathetic. Not Berger. Phil Luckett. Sixes.

Yeh, they have a whole lot of room to complain about either after cheering the bounties laid on mendenhall and ward earlier this year. They have a whole lot of room to complain when music was played while Ben was carted off 3 weeks ago. Parker got legitimately h-h speared by Scott, IIRC, and Leonhard absolutely leveled Ben in the back 3-4 steps after he released a pass. Don't hear any crying about that stuff here though. These teams simply hate eachother, and they will play to hurt eachother on every single snap. Crying about the 2 hardest hits in the game just because they both ended up knocking players on your side out looks pretty pathetic at this point.

Hard fought game and well deserved victory for the Steelers. I don't post on the football forums b/c it surprises me how stupid some fans really are. 95% of the post are emotional and irrational. Trust me, it's not just the Ravens' forum.

With Flacco, you're not the Colts on offense, but you're certainly respectable and can score 17-20/game. With the Bungholes and the Clowns back in the gutter where they belong, I fully suspect the late season meeting between Steelers-Ravens in 2009 will determine the AFC North title again. If you can only keep 1 out of your starting 3 LB's that are FA's, who do you want it to be?

If you can only keep 1 out of your starting 3 LB's that are FA's, who do you want it to be? Losing to you guys 3 x sux, but it proves that you guys deserve to be playing in Tampa. I'm looking forward to the brutal 2009 match-ups. I read an interesting article that stated that the Ravens/Steelers match-up is arguably the best rivalry in the NFL right now. I can't say I disagree. As much as I hate to lose to the Steelers, I deeply respect their team and the way they play the game. If I had to choose 1 of the 3, I would have to go w/ T. Suggs. Ray is the man, but he only has a few years left in the tank. There's a lot of talk about trading one of the FA LBs to Arizona for Anquon Boldin. We desperately need another deep threat. We'll see how it goes. Good Luck to the Steelers and bring the Lombardi back to the AFC North.

Yeah, I'm sure of that. Didn't mean to suggest Ravens' fans hold a monopoly. I only "know" two Ravens' fans - you and a guy at work who is good friends with David Hale. Both of you are intelligent and reasonable about your club (although the other guy does support United - loser. )
