Cut 'n paste regurge from what I posted on another site:
It has been mentioned here and through other means that some don't understand the Jackass Fund or it's storied history. It's very simple. Hobbit and Gamma Pi began playing for small $ several years ago, typically a $2 Nassau. Not a big bet, but just enough to justify a short, white boy dance
when collecting. During our matches, each time things don't go quite the way Hobbit expects or wishes, the word "Jackass" is projected from his mouth in my general direction. This occurs so often that it's a wonder the guy still has working vocal cords. In golf, the cash (winnings) between regular competitors will generally float back and forth as their games ebb and flow. Not the case with the Jackass Fund. It seems that Hobbit posts his lowest scores while playing with others, saving the best of his mediocrity for his matches with Gamma Pi.
In 2007 I started collecting the cash in an envelope and "The Jackass Fund" was born. Other than to make change or make good on the occasional loss, I never emptied the envelope until a couple of weeks ago. We're starting fresh in 2009.
Hobbit played well yesterday posting a swell 84, not bad for a course handicap of 15! I started hot, then faded quickly on the back nine, still posting an 81 on a course handicap of 9. (Yes, Rick, you should have gotten 6 instead of 5, but it wouldn't have made a difference.
) A lapse in concentration caused me to miss my one opportunity to press, plus several very poor lag putts, and the back nine was his. End result was kissing sisters. No blood. No white boy dance. Moot. The Jackass Fund Envelope stayed in the locker.
