No offense, but I am so *goshdarn* tired of the "We should have gotten Garcia."  "We should get Garcia."  "Garcia would be perfect in this offense."

It's all you hear on the radio up here.

He's not Johnny *goshdarn* Unitas.  Hell, he's not even Brett Favray, even though he's the same age.  I'm tired of this 1 year stop gap bull*feces*.  And the 4 year in the making failure/project.

Spend the damn money, get Cassel, or an Anderson/Romo/Big Ben type guy and be done with it.

same goes for McBadd.

I'm not sold yet Cassel will get let go.  Brady seems less likely to be ready by the day.   Garcia would give you at least 2 years of good play, and he's a lot like BigBen in extending plays when protection breaks down (something your OL stunk at last year)... plenty of time to make 2 legit playoff pushes, and seek the long term fix via the draft.

I agree they will not let Cassel go, although a pretty expensive insurance policy.

Frerotte, Bollinger, et al.......TJoke.   I concede you're right, Garcia would bring way more to the table than anything we've had before, and we are 1 QB, and o line help away from being there.

We just need a good solid franchise guy.

I'm on the fence about Garcia. I have my doubts he's got two good years left. And by good I mean enough to get to the SB not just make the playoffs. Because that's what you need to shoot for with this team and the stage they are at with the defense.

They f'ed this up when the drafted T-Jack and anointed him QB of the future.

Cassel will be gone IF they get a good offer. 1st and 3rd + ?  Someone (KC?) will step up. $14M is too much to pay for a backup. If they get a 1st they get another QB because Belichick figures he can turn him into Cassel II. The big question is Brady. If they keep Cassel it will be because Brady's knees isn't ready.

My prediction for the Vikes*: They will regress record-wise to 9-7, 8-8.

*as of 2/16/09, before free agency and the draft. I'm in full-blown Vikes Suck mode. Subject to change opinion. YMMV.

Watch what the PATS do with OL on draft day.  That will reveal whether Brady is ready or not.

Garcia said he just wants to play a role, not that he wants (or expects) to be a 16-game starter.  Can MIN not use that?

I believe that's how we started last season.  That changed after 2 games.  Then we ripped off a stellar run.  Switched back to the anointed (albeit talentless) one, and he made us lose the playoffs.

I'm gonna call B.S. on Garcia on that one. That's what you say when you want a contract.

Doesn't he have a history of being a little bitchy about the starter/back-up role? Not that it's bad but I seem to remember it.

I'd rather he just say "I'm a starter and am confident I can take someone to the Super Bowl".

Yep.  He got the claws out and then got all pouty when Gruden wanted Number 4.

They should just lose every game next year so they can take Bradford in the 2010 draft.   Grin

Seriously, they have a totally f'd up QB situation only slightly better than the Jets.  I don't see how Garcia can hurt them.  I think he's pretty good.  They can still bring along a young guy under his wing.  Of course they need to actually find that young guy that doesn't suck ass.
