People are calling our radio stations in tears, so

It's one of the three things:

1) Aliens have landed atop the Space Needle

2) There's a 40 foot Jesus floating over Lake Washington

3) The Mariners have signed Ken Griffey, Jr.

Our local sports shock jocks have been on this since 7:52am when I walked in the door... Disgusted

Fourty foot Jesus is a pretty good player, but he's no Junior.

40 foot Junior, then you'd be talking!

I'm not kidding: I heard at least 2 callers today that were in TEARS over Griffey's return.

WTF? He's a good player, but he's 39 and missed big chunks of seasons to just the kind of nagging, non specific injuries that make one question whether or not he's just another 'roided up ball palyer with inflated numbers.

It seems to me a lot of the people are overreacting, still I think it's a pretty cool move by the Mariners.  Obviously he's not any kind of a long-term solution, but he'll draw some fans and there'll be some kind of excitement for them this year.  That is if Griffey doesn't get injured.

It's a good move, but it doesn't do much to address the overall patheticness of the team. That said, it's about the only good news we've had in a while. We'd been reduced to bitching about Ichiro.

That is if Griffey doesn't get injured.

I am going to laugh my ass of at these folks if that happens.
