Some of y'all live in some pretty cold climates. Have any of you done the whole polar bear/ice swimming thing that I always see on tv?

Yes. A long time ago. Very unclear right now as to exactly why we thought it was a good idea. I do know adult beverages were involved. Shockingly cold. I'm pretty sure it won't happen again.

That I can do, with appropriate alcoholic beverages. That polar bear stuff is for the polar bears.

Only to watch. Stationed in Alaska in the '90s and they jumped in the bay up there.

my oldest son and I jumped in our pool shortly after we moved into our new house. It was 35 degrees outside. I swam the length of the pool and my son jumped in by side wall and pulled himself right out.

Irish Sea from the Courtown quay on Christmas Day 1985. It was bloody cold. That was the day I officially became a Yank according to my cousins. I survived the frigid water but there's a good chance the Sellafield nuclear plant might still get me.
