Aske, how's the pizza in Chicago?

Obama orders pizza from St. Louis, Chicago miffed

CHICAGO – The news is hitting Chicago deep dish pizza makers' eye like a big pizza pie.

President Barack Obama is having 140 people over to the White House Friday night for a some deep-dish pizza — St. Louis deep dish pizza.

It seems during his campaign he had pizza from a restaurant called Pi in St. Louis. That's the story Pi assistant manager Lindsey Tornetto tells.

Whatever happened, the restaurant says the owner and his partner packed dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases and flew to Washington.

Will Obama bow before the Pizza Kings when they get there?

I live in St. Louis.  WTF is St. Louis Deep-dish pizza?  St. Louis is known for pizzas with very thin crusts with processed provel cheese on it.  It's like glue on cardboard.  Yuck

I guess I'll have to try this place.

a.  Half the trick in making kick ass pizza is the pizza oven.  Throwing "dough, cheese and pizza pans in their suitcases" gives us kick ass pizza ingredients half a country away.  I wonder what local pizza maker is going to offer up his facility for the semi-important cooking of the pizza stage.  Or does the White House kitchen have one of everything?

b.  I'm sure it's a private affair paid for with private funds of course.  There's no way they lay the bill for $17.50 per slice pizza on the taxpayers... right?  Such is my Hope.

lol  Grin

I like Chicago-style pizza and priazzo as well, but my pizza preferences skew toward the east.
