so without major fluctuation in DJIA between now and then, the present moment value should be around 9050 with the current divisor,  of course, they will adjust the divisor "in the dark" to keep the open equal to the close and allow massive overnight institutional investors to buy index futures in at effectively 3-4% under value ahead of public perception/action time, building their own momentum profit.

anyone else outraged enough about this to buy in today and risk that the next 2-3 days might be intentionally shorted down to counteract this via semi-hedging against the public small guy ?

Not really. My investment strategies don't vary much and they've served me well.

And the guy I work with is probably part of the massive conspiracy against the little guy so I've got that going for me.

Seriously though...if the institutional investors all have a jump on everybody else..why don't you invest with said institutions and their index funds?

Im not talking about index funds, I'm talking specifically about djia futures in a 2-3 day window around when the divisor is transparently "reset" to counteract the inclusion of cisco / travelers which would add about 500 nominal points.

O.K., I read your initial post wrong. Same question though. If one knows this is happening it would be prudent to take advantage of this if you are active in the market. Whether it's personally buying stocks or through one of the institutions.

I trade mostly on the basis of hunches and innuendo that I pick up in all sorts of places from people I don't know very well, like golf courses, Publix food markets, in the stands watching youth sports, etc and so forth.  These tips, by their nature, usually fly in after trading hours, so I get the trades in on the computer as soon as I get home and have them executed in the first wave of morning trading.

I purchase lottery tickets as a hedge against the downside risk associated with this trading strategy.

I too am unfamiliar with the events that aske has referenced.  Perhaps I've just been locked in my lab too long, perhaps I work for one of those institutional investors and don't care, or perhaps it just isn't the rage inducing event that he thinks it is.

I buy, I hold, I'm happy (for the most part).  Go figure.
