South African construction workers began an indefinite strike on Wednesday, halting work at stadiums for the 2010 World Cup in the biggest industrial action since new President Jacob Zuma took office in May.

Is there (was there) any chance at all WC2010 will come off as anything other than a complete fiasco?

I was convinced this was a thread by Jules, only to open it and see an article about soccer.  I had to double check the author.  Now I'm all confused.

The double Ds threw you off (as double Ds tend to do for a lot of men).  But its Sepp Bladder, not our Blader.

I've gone to find myself.  If I get back before I return, keep me here.

I recently started giving thought to actually going to the World Cup.  Still regret not going to Germany when I had the chance.

Need to get back into a bonus level at work though, that was my mad money.

Seems the workers know they have everyone over a barrel.  I wonder how Bladder feels about bringing in foreign workers to get it done.... oh wait  Wink

About the only worse idea than attending WC10 in SA  would be attending WCXX jointly held in Caracas and Medellin

I've staked out a firm position that people will die violent deaths in SA.  I also believe Brazil to be a bad idea.  Yeah, they deserve it due to their football but it's still going to be sketchy.

Over/under for WC related deaths in SA is 50.  Brazil maybe 20.  I'll be home watching on TV thank you very much.

I can't figure out the awarding of these things.  Mexico has had it twice since England last had it.  England has hosted once while Mexico, France, Italy, Germany, (anyone else?) are at two.  Mexico twice since 1958.  I think England are considered favorites for 2018 but it's ridiculous the creators of the game have been denied for 43 years and counting.

*goshdarn* Bladder.  He'd be the biggest *bunghole* in the world if he weren't saved by the existence of Michel Platini.

LOL, I just google around, Caracas averaging about 12 murders a day.  Medellin surprising has "cleaned up" some (about as bad as a bad major American city, excluding NO) .   I was going off old reputation there.
