Emo 52770 up, 15147 down love it hate it Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle. Emo: Off the charts Emo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueOgZPBXY4APrototypical Emo band, from WAY back in the day when it wasn't even a subgenre. Nobody knew what the heck to call it, other that awesome. (Caution: F words!)

Interesting. Don't know jack about the genre other than to say that the junior high boys ABSOLUTELY do not consider Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance emo. Oh so last year alternative rock, yes, but not emo even though both bands are listed on the wikipedia page. Just as long as my kids don't come home looking like this I don't care what they call the music. Correction: Just asked my son and he says he's heard both bands referred to as emo but not often and not by many. Ah well, Jethro Tull surrender.

The boys in that pic aren't properly attired. They all seem to wear girls stretch jeans, at least the ones that skate.
And yes, they are girls jeans.

Not any more. Well yes, they're girls jeans but they're sold as boys jeans now. It's very complicated. If I were a pubescent boy crammed into tight as skin chick pants I'd be suicidal too. Those spontaneous woodies are to be granted free reign. It's in The Plan.

I have a pair of tight skinny jeans, I just can't fit into them anymore. Emo was originally what MFAWG posted. Now it has morphed into all sorts of different stuff. Modern emo IMO stems from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, Cursive, etc. MTV band concoctions like Fall Out Boy don't apply.

On a related note, Sunny Day Real Estate is currently on tour. I will be seeing them on Sept 20th. Woot. Saw Death Cab a couple of weeks ago. I don't own a pair of skinny jeans. The world is grateful.
