last month I posted about the drug treatment center that all of the sudden was housing a large number of **** offenders. Here is the article that the reporter i contacted wrote.
http://www.theoaklandpres...ada8c718c191478589777.txtI have since written the following letter to the editorial department of the paper.
This is in response to the article by Carol Hopkins “**** offenders worry residents”. I am the Waterford resident that originally contacted Ms. Hopkins about Community Programs Inc. Let me point out a couple of discrepancies.
As of today 10-18-2009 there are 140 **** offenders registered to CPI according to the **** offender registry not 87 as stated by the Department of Corrections’ Russ Marlan. Of those 81 are child molesters with victims of 15 years of age or less, the majority being under 13 years old. Virtually none of these were originally from our area, and several are repeat offenders.
“Individuals who are released from the prison system to our facility are very deliberately screened. We are only taking the ‘cream of the crop,’ and they are under supervision 24⁄7.” says CPI’s Glenn Wilson. I disagree. What is “the cream of the crop” when we are talking about the most vile members of our society, child molesters?
Community Programs Inc. stated mission is “providing therapeutic services for persons diagnosed with disorders involving alcohol and drugs, including mental health and related behavioral problems.” Only recently have these **** offenders shown up at CPI due to the mass parole of inmates recently by the State of Michigan.
The fact that a corrections facility has been opened within our township limits without the knowledge of the residents is troubling to say the least. Let’s call it what it is, Community Corrections Incorporated. Prisoners are being transferred directly to CPI and incarcerated there.
The fact that our former district court judge has something to do with this and that our police chief finds nothing wrong with it is even more troubling. The gist of the situation is this; Waterford has gained 140 **** offenders in the last 2 to 3 months that don’t belong here, without the residents knowing anything about it. I only became aware of it when searching the **** offenders registry and noticed it had swelled from 2 ˝ to 3 pages to 9 pages for the 48327 area code.
As a side note, 28 of the offenders at CPI are listed under the wrong zip code, 48328. Makes you wonder about the registry all together doesn’t it?
I will next be contacting the township board as to how this happened completely under the table and as to what the zoning ordinances are for this piece of property.
