Math.   Angry

Long rant typed up, and....never mind.  I'll speak to a teacher.

How the *fudge* does something times something equal less?

1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4?  Doesn't "times"/ multiply mean "make more"?  See:  Rabbits.
How the *fudge* can I start with half a *fudge*in' pizza and [sarcasm]multiply[/sarcasm] and end up with less *fudge*in' pizza than I started?

Oh, gets better!  Let's divide it!  I start with 1/2 a pizza and the next thing you know,  I'm farkin' Heyzoos with loafs and fishes!  Bam!  Whole.

I wanted to see it bounce.

Maybe this helps:
1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4
.5 x .5 = .25

Or you can just press the "I believe" button, crack open a cold one, and say "what the *fudge* does this have to do with real estate?"

In the realm of arithmetic on the set of real numbers,  multiplication is simply {repeated} addition.    There is an implied zero in your bolded,  add  one half , of your half to zero.  1/4.  That is the concept, #s aside.   Just as 3*(1/2)=1.5   ( Add 3 1/2's to 0 ....)

Why would adding my half to my other half work towards zero, as opposed to one?

Re-read what I said,   you aren't adding the 1/2 (or anything therein) !to the 1/2! .  You're adding 1/2 OF the 1/2 to Zero.   When you do 3*3,  are you adding 3*3 (3+3+3) to an (initial) 3?   no, you would get 12 then.....  When you do 3*2, are you adding it to an initial 3?  no.  think how 3*1 and 3*0  work... you get the idea....  right ?   just because you've moved off the integers into fractions, the idea is the same.

You're adding 1/2 of the 1/2 to Zero.

That kinda makes sense.

I've spent so much time explaining fractions......Oy.

I'd rather explain "Suck my *8==>*."

I guess there's no hope of explaining division as repeated subtraction then....    Devil
