Can't quite make out that picture.  It's being obscured by the glare from the Stanley Cup.

For you San Jose people, the Stanley Cup is the great big trophy that's awarded to the NHL Champion.  Maybe someday the Sharks will get a close up look at it....if they pay admission to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Ok, I'll give you a Pens history lesson.

Fleury was a #1 overall, but we had the #3 pick that year.  Florida had the #1 and we traded up.

Crosby was a #1 overall, but we had to win a lottery to get that, which we deserved to win since we finished dead last!!!

Malkin was a #2 overall.  He was taken after the Caps took Ovechkin.  Which actually worked out well since I don't think that Crosby and Ovechkin would coexist well on a team.

Staal was #2 overall, I believe.  I think the Blues took Erik Johnson #1 that year.

So what are all of these "#1 overall handed to us" you're talking about?  You can only be inferring that the Crosby lottery was rigged, which is nonsense because if it had been then Crosby would likely be a NY Ranger or LA King.  I'm sure the NHL would've preferred him in a major media outlet.

At least we're not like the Detroit Lions who have top 5 picks seemingly every year, yet they never get better.
