WiiCap - thoughts on the Wii
« on: December 30, 2006, 11:10:28 PM »

I just finished another Wii gaming session with the wife.  My back and arms are still really sore from wii boxing the last few days.

It's a fun console, and lives up to the hype.  It's definitely geared toward playing with a group of people at parties vs. the hardcode gamer playing by himself in his parents' basement.  In fact, we're having some friends over on sunday for a Packers, Bears, and Wii party.

We only have the games that came bundled with the console, but they're as good as people say.  I think I like Tennis and Boxing the best.  The first time playing Wii Boxing a few days ago, I had a serious workout.  I did a lot of kickboxing back in college, and I played the game as if I was boxing.  But I'm in really bad shape these days, and I'm still sore from that initial session.  I still played Wii Boxing tonight, but it was much more half-assed, but not as fun.

The Golf game was a little disappointing.  Using a regular golf swing didn't seem to work very well in the game, and I had much more success with very little backswing and determining the power in the shot by the follow-through.

The Bowling game is a blast, and is a great game to introduce people to the controls.

I still haven't had a chance to hook it up to the wireless network and play around with the online stuff.

Using a regular golf swing didn't seem to work very well in the game

See how realistic it is then?

 Grin

Yeah, golf sucks, as I said.

The other ones rock, except baseball, which is just OK.

You done the boxing mini-games yet?

Those are short but cool, I hate that trainer guy.

I got clearance from the CFO, for dispersal of funds.  Now to start the appropriations process.

No luck yesterday, or today at all the usual places.

ps, TFT thanks again for the wiiseeker sight, I used yesterday.

Which boxing mini-games, do you mean the training sessions?  We've only tried the first two training sessions to far.

A couple questions:
- What's your Wii Age?  I've only done it twice, but it's been pretty close so far for me, 36 and 34.  (I'm 33)

- I haven't connected my wii to the wireless network, but what's up with the "miis wandering to your friends' wiis"?  Does that mean I could play a game with you over the Net?

Hey stroh, when I was looking for a wii, these two forums were useful for seeing who received new shipments:

What is the Wiiseeker sight?  My youngest son is supposed to be getting one for a late Xmas present.  I pretty much have figured it will be late January before I get much of a chance to get one.

We're up to $12 since I put up the ads.  Maybe we can get the PS6 when it comes out.
