New style alpine skis
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:03:24 PM »

Man, it's been so long since I've gone skiing. The skis used by these competitors at the Winter Games look so different now. I want to try these short, fat skis with huge sidecuts. I still have a pair of old-school 195cm Dynastar GS skis. I remember almost crying because of the cramping in my thighs on the last runs of the day when using these skis for a full-day of skiing bumps.

Yeah!  My last pair of skis were 200cm.  I remember thinking I made a mistake getting them so long because they made daffys and backscratchers harder.

I've only tried the modern style once before and definitely liked how less cumbersome they felt on lifts and carrying around the lodge.  I'll be in Tahoe in 3 weeks for my first ski trip in a while.  Cool

I like the Round Robin style but that might be a bit of a scheduling nightmare.
