Well, all is not sunny in So. Cal. (Even literally. Seriously WTF? 345 days of sunshine my ass. It's been nothing but cloudy and overcast since I got to this damn state. But that's off topic.) I don't know what to do, or more importantly what the future will hold. Good job here, however volumes are way down. So much so that in Feb. we all "got" a week off. That's why I went home. February here is their most busy time of the year. Things always slow down in the Summer when it's too hot for the Q-Tips, but February for this medical enterprise is their Super Bowl, Daytona 500, World Series, Masters....you get the picture; All rolled into one. Not only did it disappoint, volumes were so low they gave each of us a week off. Week off in June or July? Expected. Week off in Feb.? Heresy. Feb. is when everybody works 12 hour days, takes add on to all hours of the night and works Saturday and Sunday for Quintupledy time. We couldn't fill enough magnets to keep people working 8 hour days. Problemo: (Other than being out of a job again) What to do? No jobs back in Minnie. There were two, I applied to both and didn't get either. So I'm glad I got this one for now. Karen doesn't really want to move. Which is problemo 2, however problem2, a. is why uproot them to move out here if I'm out of a job in July? Probably wouldn't be out of a job but working 15 to 20 hours a week would be the same thing. Problemo 2 b. Madolyn is stoked about moving out here. I don't know what to tell her. She has been moved around enough in her young life, and I'm tired of building up (if not her hopes) at least her ideas and then yanking the rug in a completely different direction. I grew up that way. I know that's not how my Father wanted it to be but that's just the way it was. I wanted it to be different for my daughter. Not it seems Apple, tree, cats, cradle etc. and so forth. Don't know where I'm going with this or why I'm even writing it down. There are plenty that have it much worse than I do. Just don't know what to think or do.

damn, I didn't know that Madolyn was excited to move out there. I had thought she was dreading it, which would have made things simpler.

Yeah exactly. I almost posted this this weekend when I got an email from her basically to the extent of: "Are we moving to Ca or not 'cause mom keeps yelling* at me when I talk about it saying we are probably not even moving out there but you said we are for sure." * 11 y/o hyperbole. Yeah. Back in December that was the deal. Throw in the wife now with strong rooted cold feet, the prospect of landing a job back home(albeit defeated on those two but still not out of the question) and a failing venture out here...... I dunno. I thought they were going great guns here, but now that I'm here and in the mix a guy has to ask WTF were you thinking opening up 3 new centers?

Don't know if they're expanding the radiological department, but the medical center here is building a big, new campus.

You could always try San Diego or something like that. With a small permanent population, the PS area might be more prone to business fluctuations in your specialty than others when the snowbird (or q-tip, cottontops, liver spotted walking cadavers, etc...) population migrates back north. The San Diego area is home to a lot more people than that. They get their share of snowbirds as well (and unfortunately a lot of 'Zonies in the summertime) but with a larger permanent population business could stay a little more steady. ps - don't let one bad day at Desert Dunes w/me spoil your outlook here!

You would think that there would be jobs in the radiology field "everywhere", almost like you would think there would be accounting jobs. Considering you have experience, you would especially think that they where everywhere.......
I would think/hope that everything will work out....

Email this afternoon. Hello Michael, I received your resume(gleek made for you) for the Applications Support Engineer position here at Vital Images. After looking over your resume, I think you may fit well into another role that we have for a Clinical Validation Engineer. I have attached the job description above for you to review. Would you have any interest in considering this opportunity? You certainly have an interesting background, and I would like have the opportunity to learn more about your experiences. Do you have time to have a phone interview sometime next week? Please check your calendar and let me know what times you would be available. I look forward to hearing from you! ****** *******| Human Resource Representative Minnetonka, MN 55343
