Why would they even think about lying about it? The *feces* floats to the top. One would think they know that.

by my q+d back of the envelope calculation it seems like right now using "estimates" of the outflow , we're already up to approximately a .15 ppt concentration if you assume that it would all eventually equilibrate into some vast diffuse "less harmful" scenario (which of course won't happen) if you project out another 90 days of leaking, that concentration goes out to approximately .65 ppt. if you project it out for 180 days, you're over 1 ppt. I wonder if this guy would be okay with me putting 1ppt of oil in his drinking water for the rest of his life. Ok, that's an exaggeration because we allow > 1ppt of crap like benzene in drinking water... but the point stands, if he actually KNEW it was in there he'd freak out. And of course, the oil will never disperse on that level given that it's you know... largely insoluble in water. So lets put it a bit more in context. If this thing keeps gushing untapped until the end of the year at current rates... and it remains one continues surface slick puddle... it will be so large that it will be about 1/6 the size of Texas.... if it gushes until early august and a hurricane comes through and aerosolizes/washes it onshore as storm surge, you're talking about ~250 M Gallons of oil either inland or in the air/both. That's enough to sicken people acutely via contact/inhale, and to cause 1-2 OOM increase in birth defects and cancer rates for a century.

I really think this nails momma grifter's coffin shut.
Her fate is as inevitable as one of those plantation quails, bread and housed for the sport. As soon as she steps out of the box and attempts to take flight, she'll get the double barreled swiftboat.
Any competent ad producer will create 30 sec spots interposing Palin's shreaking "drill, baby! drill!" to the mouthbreather fap-fap-fapper convention with graphic video of ducks and turtles wallowing in oozy fossilized muck and Louisiana shrimpers mournfully hanging around their boats, smoking cigarettes and muttering "wtf!" while they beg to be struck with cancer as it offers them a chance at a better life.
She.won't.stand.a.chance
at least, that is how I'd run the script

"Wanna see something really scary?" I heard yesterday that there have been more oil spills in the gulf of Mexico than anywhere else in the world. So a really bad one was pretty much inevitable.
