But at the same time she is against looking at someone and thinking because of their appearance they may just fit "the" category du jour?

So, no He's Black he either deals drugs, stole the Mercedes he's driving, or wants to gang bang.  Probably me.  That's what they do.

So, no He's one of those Arab people that blow up airplanes and buildings.  That's what they do.

So, no He's "clearly" Mexican and out doing gardening and cutting someone's grass.  They sneak across and work like that and then send all the money home.  That's what they do.

That thinking is bad.  So I would never judge a person by the color of their skin or appearance to put them in a category, or "profile" them.

However,  We have such a huge illegal immigration problem, that I do think it's ok to stop people that look Hispanic (I'd stop right there but I'll give her the global benefit of the doubt)  Asian, African, Middle Eastern, Inuit Indian, etc.  Just to make sure it's ok for you to be here........

Got it, and I wasn't casting aspersions: We all make assumptions about people based on appearance.

Some of is are smart enough to realize those assumptions may not be correct.

The whole immigration argument is based on a very, very simple premise:

The Darks (or The Wrong Kind Of White in the case of Irish and Eastern European Immigrants) are take all our moneys, because they are all on welfare and whatever.

Colorado spent 25 million dollars to ensure NOBODY who was here illegally was  getting any kind of state funded assistance. The first year the program was in effect they saved something like 250 thousand dollars.

If you do the math, they will recoup that investment in about 100 years.

Generally I reckon these things are held just so that some women who's only contribution to society is to look good and *fudge*, something else to do before they get married, at which point they'll still look good and *fudge*, but they'll also do some housework...
