Tough start to the biggest motorsports weekend of the year...
« on: May 26, 2010, 06:49:31 PM »

This guy was a stone cold stud, and he will be sorely missed:

http://jessehockett.homestead.com/

Today, Jesse Hockett lost his life due to a tragic electrical accident, while preparing the race trailer for the next five nights of racing.
Jesse was an absolutely amazing racer and he prooved that again this past weekend, winning all three nights, but more importantly Jesse was just plain and simple an awesome person.   Would help anyone at anytime no matter who or what it was.

He came out here a couple of years ago, and won in a very sketchy local ride against some pretty big name talent in California.

The way I heard it his plane landed in SF at 4:30 in the afternoon, he got to the track in Napa late, which meant he missed hot laps. So, he got 3 laps to warm up before qualifying a car he'd never been in on a track he'd never seen, won his heat and won the A going away. The next morning he flew back to Iowa and came second.

Just an enormous talent who had a couple of NASCAR truck rides that didn't pan out.

Truly a bummer.  So sad to see good people like that go too soon.

Sounds like not only an awesome driver but one hell of a guy as well.

Agree with "waiting for the other shoe(s) to drop"

Multiple sadness.  Unfortunately history proves you correct.

That too. I'm not sure how you get electrocuted loading a trailer. Doesn't matter that much.
