Swing Glove
« on: January 07, 2007, 06:38:10 AM » |

Nothing else to do, this AM, so I'm watching TGC infomercials. I've seen the ad for this thing, before, and it seems a bit intriguing. Aside from the comment about using it on the course and nobody noticing (that you're cheating if you use it in serious golf), it might help some in grooving the proper wrist movements, in practice. Has anyone used the Swing Glove? Does it do anything other than dig into your wrist? I have a strong grip, and my wrist is cupped, somewhat, at address. Would this glove prevent me from taking that position? Any positive, or negative feedback? TIA

I want one. I've been looking in store, and haven't see one yet. I won't order it from tv. A lot of guys on FGI say, just stick a pocket comb in your glove, and it will do the same thing. I haven't tried that either. I'm not spending good money on a comb I'll never use. Training aids, however is a HOle other story!

The part that intrigues me is the pivoting metal support. A comb won't do that, nor will taping up the wrist. That would inhibit proper wristcock. I'm not sure if Golf Galaxy has them. I'll have to check next week. Update. Golf Galaxy has them on their website. $37.99. Usually they have quite a bit of stuff in the store that's on their site. For That much, I'd like to make sure it fits, so I will be buying it in the store.

Because it was said on a golf forum far, far away that cheating at golf was the equivalent of driving drunk.

I get it. I wouldn't use it on the course, anyway, but if it provided muscle memory, at the range, it might be useful.

Admittedly, I don't know what a Swing Glove is except from BFBoy's description here. But if it works anything like a Tac-Tac, I found that gizmo to be somewhat valuable as a practice aid.

http://www.swingglove.com/Not really a tac-tic. This has a metal support running down the back of the glove, and a second holding strap. Right at wrist level, the support is hinged to allow it to pivot. Supposedly, if you get your wrist in the wrong position, you will feel pressure on the back of your wrist.

If I was a Product Liability Insurance Underwriter I wouldn't touch that product with a 10ft Barge Pole. From a Liability perspective I can see Lawsuits for injuries to the wrists, hands and lower arm to elbow fro musing this thing particularly over a period of time.....
