He voiced an ad that aired at halftime of The Super Bowl that had a somewhat positive message along the lines of:

'When the going gets tough, America gets going! Buy a Chrysler and help America!'

Certain members of the Loyal Opposition voiced great displeasure with this.

The punchline is that Eastwood has done some local politics, and was heavily courted by the same 'Loyal Opposition' to seek higher office.
