How freaky is this?
« on: October 15, 2006, 04:15:13 PM »

Just got back from a golf weekend interstate in Queensland last night. Played at a new course called Brookwater on the Saturday. This course was awsome.

Anyway, here's where it gets bizzarre. I checked out of my hotel at 10.00am yesterday and headed up towards the airport and figured I'd keep going north to kill some time as my flight wasn't until 8pm that night.  So i get to a town called Nudgee where I knew there was a golf course. After driving around for a while trying to find the course, I thought I'd see if I could get a game. If I couldn't I was just gonna hit the beach.

So I get there and the guy in the pro shop says no problem you can get on in half an hour...sweet!.  I head up to the tee and join up with two other guys who'd also just decided to turn up.

Get this, both their names where Simon, so now we have a group of three Simon's.  Shocked  So we get talking and I find out that one of the other guys has the same surname as me!!! Shocked Shocked  What are the odds of that???!!!

Wow, that is weird.

I think I've only met three Simons in my life.

This is interesting...according to http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html
here in the US, there's a dearth of Simons among the age ranges of most golfers I run into.

Definitely pretty freaky twoiron.  I would probably have sneaked off home and put on my tin foil hat.   Wink

Very cool applet dystopia.  Proved to me how thoroughly lacking in originality I was when naming my children (Conor and Caitlin).

In my core group of close friends, 4 of us share the same given name. It seems Matt/ Matthew was a pretty popular name in the early 70s. Within a couple of miles of me, there is a guy who shares both my given name and my surname. He also apparently doesn't pay his bills. I get collections notices all the time for accounts that I've never heard of. I just know one of these days it's going to *fudge* me when I'm looking for a loan.  Angry
